New Location > Political Resolve
Thanks to the extraordinary benevolence of Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the Ministry of Culture and Preservation of National Heritage was able to advance the construction of a new National Library headquarters, exclusively using Tunisian efforts.
The Library moved into its new building on Boulevard du 9 avril 1938, with space designed for the preservation of documents and their use by researchers. Consequently, the National Library of Tunisia not only fulfills the aspirations of citizens and scholars, but it also stands to witness the protection of intellectual and artistic national heritage.
While the new location of the National Library gives it a certain prestige at the national level, the Library’s electronic technologies and methods of dissemination provide actual influence at the international level. |
